Was Your Blogger.com Blog Tagged As A Spam Blog?

A few days ago people were having problems with some of their blogs being tagged as a spam blog. An email was sent to bloggers saying as much!

One of my clients got one of these emails - dated - I believe - July 31st - about a week ago.

Interesting note here because since the client hadn't posted to their blog in a while they were really not aware of the fact that their blog was even flagged as a spam blog.

By the time they actually got to their blog everything had been cleared up and their blog was ready to be posted to again!

So I guess what I am trying to say here is that even though it can be a nuisance when something goes wrong with your Blogger.com blog - just give it a little time and the problem may eventually solve itself!

Increasing The Traffic To Your Blog...............

I just posted to my Adsense Consultant blog about how I'm working on increasing the traffic to one of my client's blogs.

I thought that I would provide a link to that post because regardless of whether or not you have adsense on your blog, one of the things that you will want to work on is increasing the traffic to your blog. In the case of adsense, the more traffic your blog gets the more potential clicks your adsense ads will get.

However if you don't have adsense on your blog then it is still important to increase the traffic to your blog. It doesn't even have to be for financial reasons. Let's say that your blog touches on a very topical subject - so the more people that know about your blog - the better!

It Is Important To Keep Adding To Your Blog

Try not to let too much time go by without adding to your blog.

I have a client now who hasn't updated their blog in quite a while so I'm working on adding some relevent content to their blog.

Since people become less interested in a blog that hasn't been updated in a while I am also working on adding some more traffic to the clients blog.

There are lots of ways that this can be done and right now I'm working on bringing more traffic to their blog. Since their blog has a counter and a stats tracker I can track where their traffic is coming from so that I can work more on increasing their traffic.

Another important thing that you should know about your blog entries is that they get indexed by Google's search engine (and the other search engines as well) well after you have posted them. For instance a link to one of your blog posts will be indexed in the search engines from as far back as January of 2006 IF the information is relevent enough to the person seeking the information.

So even if your blog does not have a lot of posts it is still possible for a link to your blog to be in the search engines. And if you blog is high in the search engine ranks then you increase your potential blog traffic.

"How Can I Bring Attention To My Blog?"

Here is a recent comment that I received:

I have a non-profit blog and would like to know exactly how to get the attention of people......can you review it and let me know what you think please?

Thank You

First of all I made a blog entry answering the question How Can I Attract More Traffic To My Blog

Secondly I do not do blog reviews for free. This is a service that I charge for and if you would like me to review your blog then you can click on the PayPal button at the side to pay for my services. There are starting packages that start as low as $100 for a blog review and you will get a one page detailed analysis of my review of your blog. I will also review your blog here on this blog as well and provide a link to your blog also (as you can see that I have already done with some of my previous clients) You can also take a look at my client blogroll to see a listing of some of my clients.

I do not do blog reviews for free simply because it is usually the person that is asking for the blog review who wants detailed critique of their blog and that is just something that I will not do for free!

If you will also notice the above question asks to know "exactly how to get the attention of people"

Now there are some basic things that can apply to blogs in general as far as getting more traffic / attention for your blog is concerned. One of those "things" is to let everybody you know - tell them about your blog! Once you get past telling the people that you do know about your blog then its time to work on getting other traffic to your blog.

Since this is a professional blog for an organization I wonder if it occured to them to include their blog address on all of there business literature?

Make sure that your blog has a counter on it so that you can track your number of visitors. There are some free counters available on the internet and they mostly involve copying and pasting some code to put on your blog.

You should also include a "stats" counter so that you can do more than just track the number of visitors to your blog. Use a stats counter that will let you see WHERE your traffic is coming from. Once you see where your traffic is coming from you can start to work more on increasing that traffic.

You should also work on optimizing your blog (or website) for the search engines. This is called Search Engine Optimization - or SEO - for short - and it simply means that you want a link to your blog or website to show up high in the search engine results when people are using the search engines to look for specific information. For instance this blog shows up on page one of Google's search engine results when someone types in the term "the blog consultant" and since I am a blog consultant that is EXACTLY where I want a link to my blog to be! I would say that roughly 50% of the traffic that comes to my blog is from people who went to the search engines, typed in some term relating to the content of this blog and a link to this blog showed up in the search engine results.

You can follow my progress as I work (and I should emphasize that this is work!) to keep my and my clients' sites on page one of the search engines by going to my SEO Consultant Blog.

So like I have said before:

When You Are Ready For Results

Just Let Me Know!

Blog Review - The Computer Brother

The Computer Brother is one of my clients.

I started his blog for him, added both the adsense and auction bid coding and I then let him loose on his blog! As you will see from viewing his blog, you will see that he is very passionate about his blog's subject which is computers and computer repair - one might tend to say that maybe he's almost too passionate about his subject matter because he does have a number of very long posts.

Sometimes I think passion can be a good thing. With all the number of spam blogs and blogs that don't provide a lot of content, its refreshing to see a blog that is written by someone who cares about the subject that they are blogging about. (I also hope that this encourages other people who want to start their own blog but don't think their topic is worth blogging about). I also believes that the passion that is shown in his blogging is one of the reasons why his blog has gotten comments (which you can see on the side of his blog). He has also been corresponding with others that have read his blog and have questions or just general comments.

  • Never underestimate how far-reaching your blog can be!

  • Never underestimate who your blog could "touch" in one way or another!

Unfortunately the "look" of his blog is uneven because while he does have a lot of content in his blog posts that leaves a lot of empty space on the side of his blog - so I will be working with him as a continual client to help fill in the empty spaces.

There are a lot of add-ons and widgets that one can add to their blog but it would be most beneficial if those add-ons related to the blog itself. So while this may be a slow process it is better to add things that are related to one's blog then just to put something on there to fill in the void.

One Of My Current Projects......

One of the projects that I am currently working on for a client involves incorporating his business card into the template of his blog. I am coming to find out that this involves a lot of detailed work - especially where graphics are concerned!

I have completed the first hurdle which was adapting their business card to a format that I can use as the background for their blog. Now the next step is to work this design into the template of their blog.

I will keep you informed of my progress.

Blogger.com does provide you with some templates that you can use for your blog but you get about eight different choices and there may come a time when you want to change your blog's template to something else that's more customized.

There are a lot of great looking blogger templates out there but you are going to have to be careful if you want to use them in your own blog. Before making any changes to your blog's template make sure that you make a back-up copy of your template. That way if you make a mistake or mess up your template then you will still have a copy of your original template.

Clients - The Computer Brother - Step 2 - Increasing His Traffic

I just posted an entry on my Adsense Consultant Blog about one of my clients - The Computer Brother. Here is a link to that post:

Increasing A Client's Blog Traffic

It doesn't matter whether or not you have adsense added to your blog because almost everyone would like their blog to have more traffic and more visitors to their blog. Sometimes people try too hard to accomplish this and they start to get frustrated.

I'm going to be working closely with this client since the next step is to increase the traffic to his blog. I have started to monitor his traffic numbers just to see where his traffic numbers were as opposed to what they are now. I have sent him an email giving him one thing that he can do to start increasing his traffic and I'm going to just how well this "one thing" works by monitoring his traffic.

Client - The Computer Dude's MySpace Page

Besides working on The Computer Dude's Blog, I am also working on his his myspace page. I have just added a new myspace background that fits in with the kind of theme that he wanted - which was a military-styled theme.

You can take a look at his myspace page and tell me what you think!

Client - The Computer Brother - Step 2 - Enhancing The Blog

The 2nd step for The Computer Brother's Blog is to enhance the blog with more content on the side.

A new affiliate has been added besides adsense. This new affiliate is Auction Ads which is an affiliate program that lists current items up for bid on Ebay.

Unlike adsense, Auction Ads do not crawl a site for content. Instead you have to enter keywords to use as a basis for the kind of auction items that you want listed on your blog or website. In The Computer Brother's Blog that would mean items that have to do with computers and computer repairs.

Another very important thing that you will notice is that the auction ads layout is completely different from the layout and color scheme that the adsense ads use. This is very important because while adsense does allow for you to put other advertisers on your site or blog you have to make sure that these additional ads do not have the same layout and look as the adsense ads! If they both have the same look then it is a violation of adsense's terms of service which is grounds for the termination of one's adsense account.

Client - The Computer Brother - Step 1 - Starting A Blog

The Computer Brother is one of my clients.

The first order of business was to create a blog for The Computer Brother. He didn't know anything about blogs really but when he found out that there was a way to earn money with his blog he decided to give it a try. Of course since he didn't know anything about how to create a blog, I created a blog for him. I am also a guest contributing writer for his blog as well. While I have created his blog he is still able to create and write his own entries to his blog.

The Computer Brother's blog is about his interest in computers. And if you take a look at his blog you will see that he really, really does have an interest in computers. He also does computer repairs and this will also be the subject of his blog. As the days go by and he becomes more familiar with adding entries to his blog the more comfortable he will be with his blog.

Except for some basic editing what you see on his blog is the work that he put into it. He does have a way to go but taking the journey is part of the fun.

Step 2?

is going to be

increasing his traffic

New Client Or An Extension Of A Client

The Computer Dude's MySpace Page

Here you see a very cleverly made animated gif graphic that now appears as The Computer Dude's MySpace Profile. I didn't even think you could use an animated gif as part of your MySpace profile but now that I know that you can I'm going to animate my own MySpace page.

I have also gotten 2 new clients who want me to work on their myspace profile pages.

It is also becoming increasingly clear that a lot of people need help with their blogs on Blogger.com. It seems that a lot of people want to be able to change the basic layout of their blog - like taking things off and adding things on and so on.

Working On A Client's Site!

The Computer Dude has a new myspace page - which is something that I helped him to create. I have just uploaded a new picture so that The Computer Dude's profile will have a picture on it. I have also added that same picture to The Computer Dude's blog profile as well.

Having a profile picture is important! It doesn't have to be a picture of yourself. It can be a picture of almost anything - just so long as you have a profile picture of some kind.

Have you noticed how bare and unprofessional a myspace member's profile looks if they don't have a profile picture?

You Never Know Where Opportunities Will Come From

I just got 2 more clients! Again - Yayyyyyy for me!

What kind of work will I be doing for these new clients?

MYSPACE!

I will be customizing their myspace pages. For this service I will have to charge them $100 each because they want a specific looking kind of background for their myspace page(s). Plus they want added animated graphics and I haven't decided whether I will charge extra for that yet.

So here is another kind of service that I am going to have to add to my resume:

MySpace Consultant!

I got these 2 clients from "word of mouth" advertising which - in my honest opinion - is the best kind of advertising there is! I also sent them a link to my own MySpace page and I think that is what "sealed" the deal!

As popular as Myspace is there are still people who want a myspace page but they want to be able to spruce their pages up but they don't know how to do it. So that is when they get someone like me to do it for them.

Client - The Computer Dude - on Page 1 Of Google's Search Engine Results!

As of September 8, 2007, The Computer Dude's blog is still on page 1 of Google's search engine results for "computer dude"

As of August 23, 2007, The Computer Dude's blog is still on page 1 of Google's search engine results for "computer dude"

As of August 16, 2007, The Computer Dude's blog appears on page 1 of google's search engine results for:

  • computer dude

The Computer Dude's blog site is showing up on page 1 of Google's Search engine results.

Since a good part of website traffic comes from the search engines, having your site appear on page 1 of google's search engine results is definitely something that you should work towards. It doesn't matter if your site is a professional blog or a personal blog - the name of the game here is

TRAFFIC!

The more traffic you get to your site the more the average goes up for those visitors to click on the adsense ads of your site. That means that your adsense earnings will increase the more that your website traffic increases.

You will want to get your site as high as possible on Google's search engine results. If you check the picture above you will see that The Computer Dude's website is like #6 on page 1 of google's search engine results out of over 2.7 Million website matches!

Wouldn't you like to say the same thing for your blog or website?
