Unemployed Lawyer Loses His Unemployment Because Of Adsense Earnings!

Well this is certainly surprising news!

It seems that a lawyer who was unemployed is losing his unemployment benefits because of money he earned using Google's Adsense program on his blog! According to an online article, the lawyer was making $1 a day using the Adsense program and the state of New York where the lawyer resides considers that money as earned income. However since this seems to be a relatively new kind of issue, New York has yet to decide whether or not the Adsense money should be considered as income or as residual money.

Here is a link to the online article:

"Can I Use A Blog Address.........................?"

Let's say you have a blog url that you think is perfect and you want to use it for your own blog address. You try to register the name with Blogger.com only to find out that it is already being in use. Just for curiosity sake you visit the url and come to find out that the blog hasn't been updated in quite some time - maybe even a few years.

If you think that this would be a perfect opportunity to be able to use that url as your own then please THINK AGAIN!

As far as I know, Blogger.com will not release a blog's url just because it hasn't been used in a while.

Unfortunately one of your only recourses (if you still want to use that particular url) is to get in touch with the owner of the blog address to see if you can get them to give you their url.

It may be highly unlikely but there have been some cases where people have received a LOT of money by selling their urls!

This may not be good news for those who have a perfect url in mind only to find out that its already been taken but there isn't too much that you can do about it. You'll probably have to come up with a creative solution to giving your blog the kind of url that you want.

Comments! - Be Careful Of Clicking Links Contained In the Comment Section Of Blogs!

Here is what one person has posted about it so far:

"hear me please somebody of the blogger team i love the blogs and so i like to defend this here i go i found a blog infected with a virus the guy of the blog sent me a comment the comment only say: click here i touched and something about a xp cleaner some sort of antivirus free, in that moment i know than was a virus...."

So be very careful clicking on links that are included in a blogger's comments!

I HATE These Kinds of Blogs!

Ever find a blog post that you find very interesting and you would like to add your comments - only to find out that you have to "join" or "register" just to be able to post a comment!

I also don't like blogs where you have to "click here" to read the entire blog post.

I do find these types of blogs very annoying!

Of course it is only my own personal opinion. People may have very good reasons for having these kinds of blogs.

It Has Come To Hit Me! - I Am A Professional Blogger!

You know how I came to this conclusion? I now have to pay taxes on my blogging income!

This occurred to me tonight as I was filing out one of my local tax forms! This gave me the chance to look at my blogging income which is mainly coming from my Adsense iincome for this past quarter tax season.

It is a bummer having to report this income but I have to because once you make a certain amount from Adsense they have to report that income - which means I have to report that income too. (And if you too are an adsense publisher and you make over a certain amount of adsense money they you have to report it too!) By the way this is one of the reasons why you have to give adsense your tax ID #!

But it is also a great feeling to know that I am earning an income from actually blogging. So many people think that it can't be done and I know that it can! As a matter of fact I was reading a blog by someone who makes over $5,000 a month just from their adsense income alone! (You can vote on my How Much Money Do You Make Monthly With Adsense Poll and see the results of the others that have also voted in the poll.)

Now back to this "tax" thing and blogging. Actually I had to start reporting my blogging income at the beginning of the year when it became obvious to me that I was making enough that it had to be reported. Now I have to think about deductions! And there are quite a few deductions that I will be able to take! For instance I can deduct my Internet access fees, my ISP fees, and there are a whole host of others! If I can declare my own home office deductions then I can deduct even more expense - including part of my household expenses!

I haven't figured all of this out yet because this will be the first time that I have had to declare myself as a professional blogger. Now while I have until April of next year to get everything straightened out I want it to be straightened out well before then. So I'll report back as I progress with this "tax" thing and actually being a professional blogger!

Is Someone Trying To Sabotage Your Blog (or Website)?

Have you ever signed in to your adsense account to check your stats and noticed that there was an unusually high number of clicks on your ads? You know that you didn't do it and you're wondering what is going on.

It could be that someone is trying to sabotage your your adsense account!

What do you do if this happens to you? Well the very first thing that you should do is notify adsense! You can go to their site and find out more about what you should do if you notice questionalbe click activity to your site(s). You can also contact adsense via email if you scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "contact us" link.

Now the question, of course, is why would anyone want to do something like this? There are many answers. Someone may just be vindictive and they may want to try and sabotage your account by placing so many clicks that your adsense account might become disabled or even worse yet cancelled. They themselves could have probably been disabled by adsense and they are looking for ways to get back at other people. They could also be a competitor trying to get your adsense account disabled as well.

Adsense's policy on invalid clicks is that they will investigate such matters but they have the final say-so as to whether or not they will continue or disable your account. I have seem many people post about how they felt that they were dealt with wrongly as far as invalid clicks were concerned but it is hard to judge unless one knows all the facts.

So if you suspect invalid and/or questionable click activity on your adsense ads notify adsense as soon as you are aware of the problem.

This has happened to my and my blogs and I have taken note of the person who was at my site at the time and I have (and will continue to) forward this information to adsense each and every time that it happens!

And I am not the only one that this has happened to. Click here to read what another clickbombing victim has said about their adsense account being terminated. But he did manage to get his adsense account re-instated.

You Know There Is One Thing That I Will Admit That I Do Not Know How To Do

One of the things that I do not know how to do is how to add the adsense code using blogger.com's newer template/layout option. Using this option is supposed to make it more easier for people to be able to add the adsense codes to their blog. The reason why I don't use it is because you have to give them your Adsense sign-on information and I am just not ready to do that yet.

When I want to add the adsense codes to my blogs I still use the "classic" template version so that I can go in and "tweak" my codes and html coding.

Another important thing that I have just now started to do is to make back-ups of my blogs. Even though I have seen this advised all the time I simply just did not want to go through all of the hassle (and it turns out that it is really not too much of a hassle) of backing up my blog's template / layout. But I do see the importance of it now and I would advise everyone else to do the same thing!

Someone deliberately clicking the ads on your site to get your adsense account disabled

August 20, 2007 - Here is a link to another's blog post about what Google (and Adsense) are trying to do to help determine invalid click fraud

Adsense Help

for Invalid Clicks!

So I go and check my adsense numbers today and I found out that someone intentionally made a number of clicks on the ads that appear on this blog. I immediately notified adsense!

As long as it is not myself that is clicking on these ads, Adsense's equipment will show that it is not me that is clicking on the ads so many times.

So to anyone that is trying to stop my adsense account by sabotaging it with invalid and excessive clicks you are going to be very disappointed!

Sunday, August 19, 2007 - I found out something very interesting when I was checking my traffic stats. I was able to pinpoint the time that the invalid click user had invalidly clicked the ads on my blog.

I'm going to turn this information over to adsense to see if they can do anything with it!
