How Can I Tell If Someone Has Visited My Blog?

how do you see who has visited your website?"........

"How do I know how many people have read my blog?"

The most simplest answer to this is to install a counter on your blog.

If your blog is on Blogger.com then you can view their home page and navigate to where they talk about Blog Add Ons - which include counters. There are a lot of "free counters" all over the internet and the most simplest ones involve you copying and pasting the counter code and adding it to your blog.

There are also a number of more sophisticated counters that will give you more information than just how many visitors have visited your site - there are a number of free ones available. They will give you information such as the location of your visitor, what time they visited your site, their domain name, their operating system plus a whole lot more.

There is no better a place to find compatable counters that you can add to your Blogger.com blog than by going to the link that Blogger.com has on their "help" files:

Blog Add-Ons

How to place the code where we want....

The most simplest answer to your question is that (depending on the format of your site) you are going to have to get into the html source coding of your site and copy and paste the adsense coding inside of it according to where you want the adsense ads to appear on your site.

If you are talking about a blog on Blogger.com then they give you the option of letting them add the Adsense ads to your blog.

So it may become necessary for you to learn some html or you can just as easily hire someone to put the Adsense ads in for you!

Please see my The Adsense Consultant Blog to find out more about how and how to be able to place the Adsense ads on one's site.

Can you tell if a specific person has viewed your blog?

well I think that that is really going to depend! I have a stats tracker on my blog and it lets me know the ip address of those viewing my blogs. So if you know their specific ip address than it is possible to be able to tell if someone specific has viewed your blog.

Like I said before you can get one of the free counters that are available online and add it to your blog - that way you will be able to tell how many visitors your site is getting.

There are ways of searching online to see if someone has used your pic online but say if they just wanted to add the pic to their hard drive and not use it online then I don't think that you would be able to trace that kind of thing.

It really depends on the kind of blog that you have. I can only tell you what I know from having a blog on Blogger.com. Anonymous comments - I don't think that those can be tracked. However some commentors will leave a link to their own website and that is maybe one way that you can track them. But the "comments" section doesn't include a commentors' ip address.

Now you may want to look into this further by contacting your blog's hosting administration and find out from them if they track ip addresses.

"oh also can the blogger tell which other websites the commentator has visited" - I don't think that I have an answer for that one - I don't think that you can track a commentator's other website visits.

how can see who visited my blog

To see who has visited your blog you will have to add a more sophisticated kind of counter - what I call a stats tracker to your blog. This will let you see who visited your site - not their name but their IP address, where they are located and what time of the day that they visited your site.

Is there a way to use these statcounters for my own knowledge...not necessarily to post as a widget on my blog? Like for instance, I'd want to know the location where people are viewing my blog (city, state)...but I'd just like to know, not make it a viewable thing for everyone to see.Thanks.

I believe what you are talking about is an "invisible" counter. You will be able to see it but no one else that comes to your site will be able to see it.

Do a search for "invisible" counters and you should be able to find some - even some that might be free!

Can someone with a wordpress blog tell if I'm viewing their blog? Does wordpress automically come with something that tells them the location of viewers or would they have to install something separately?
Thanks

I don't if Wordpress has a specific widget for this but I do know that there are widgets that you can add yourself to see who is visiting your site and from what location they are at.

I have one of these widgets on my own blog that lets me see what kind of traffic I am getting to my own blog and that information includes where the visitor is located, the day and time that they viewed my site and what are my most popular sites.

So if someone with a Wordpress blog had one of these widgets on their site then they could definitely track you.
